In the glittering world of glamour, there are many things that are often kept a secret, especially when it comes to cosmetic surgery. Uorfi Javed rose to fame for her quirky dressing sense, which helped her earn massive followers on social media. Sometime back she was in limelight due to her undereye fillers which she got due to constant trolling for her dark circles. Now, the 25-year-old has opened up about getting lip fillers since she was 18. Recently, she went unfiltered and uploaded bad lip job pictures on her social media handles, with a warning to her fans.
Uorfi Javed opens up about getting lip fillers
“I’ve been getting lip fillers since I was 18, when I didn’t have a lot of money but I always felt my lips were too thin and wanted bigger, fuller lips. I went to Dermet Denny, we are ready to do it for less and many times these were the results! I had to finish them and keep in mind that this is the most painful thing ever,” Uorfi Javed wrote in the caption of the picture.
Recalling her disappointing experience with lip fillers, the actor and model shared that people should be careful while getting fillers or botox. However, her post was about being careful while choosing these cosmetic surgeries rather than blindly following in someone’s footsteps. “I still have tons of lip fillers, I just know what suits my face and I know less is more. Encouraging everyone to do thorough research before visiting any doctor. I really recommend fillers to everyone, if you have some insecurities about your face or body then it is better to opt for fillers or surgery rather than hating yourself or your face but only from a very good doctor,” she adds.
Uorfi’s post is a reminder of how one should do their research well when choosing such procedures and not blindly going into them. Having said that Health Shots got in touch with Dr. Debraj Shome, Senior Cosmetic Surgeon and Director of The Aesthetic Clinic to understand more about lip fillers or dermal fillers.
What to do before lip fillers?
Nowadays, lip fillers are not just limited to celebrities. Many people resort to lip fillers to make their lips look fuller. Dr. Shome explains, “Lip fillers involve injections by a cosmetic surgeon to change the appearance of your lips. This includes increasing their volume, modifying their shape, ensuring symmetry, and adjusting proportion.
For those unaware, lip fillers are also called derma fillers which help in increasing the size and fullness of the lips. Here are a few things that you should keep in mind before opting for lip fillers as recommended by an expert:
1. The first and most important step before getting lip fillers is to choose the right cosmetic surgeon. You must check the credentials of your doctor before deciding to go for lip fillers.
2. It has both temporary and permanent options so make sure you consult an expert who will guide you in this regard.
3. Mention the medications and treatments you are getting before opting for lip fillers.
4. Avoid taking blood thinners, NSAIDs, vitamin E, fish oil, and alcohol before surgery to avoid the risk of prolonged swelling or injury.
5. There will be no pain in your lips but there will be a slight bruise which can be healed in a day.
6. Since this procedure is safe for people of all age groups, you do not need to panic at all.

What to do after getting lip filler done?
If you have recently had or are planning to have lip fillers, avoid the following:
1. Use vitamin K cream or aloe vera gel after consulting a specialist to reduce swelling.
2. If you feel swelling, itching, injury or any other pain, then cover the lips with a thick clean cloth and apply an ice pack.
3. Avoid doing any strenuous work for at least a day or two after getting lip fillers done.
4. You can choose light exercises like walking but you must check with your doctor first.
5. Drink plenty of water as this will help your body recover faster.
6. Eat a balanced diet that includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
7. Avoid steam rooms, saunas or heated exercise classes for 48 hours as the high heat can increase swelling.
8. Take proper medicine as prescribed by your doctor to avoid complications.
9. Do not try any home remedy to reduce the swelling or injury of the lips.
10. Sleep with your head elevated to combat swelling and avoid swelling on your face.
11. Do not use makeup on your lips for 48 hours after the procedure.
12. Avoid drinking alcohol as it acts as a blood thinner which can lead to swelling and can make swelling worse.
